The Molded Plywood Dining Chair is inspired by the designer in 1946.Jr (1907-1978) and Bernice Alexandra "Ray" (nee Kaiser) was American designers, who worked in and made major contributions to modern architecture and furniture. They also worked in the fields of industrial and graphic design, fine art and film. They married in 1941 and moved to California where they continued their furniture design work with molding plywood.

In 1946, Evans Products began producing the molded plywood furniture. Their molded plywood chair was called "the chair of the century" by the influential architectural critic Esther McCoy. Soon production was taken over, who continues to produce the furniture in the United States to this day.

They established their long and legendary relationship in 1946 with this boldly original molded plywood dining chair featuring wooden legs. Since then, the aesthetic integrity, enduring charm, and comfort of the dining chair and its counterpart lounge chair have earned them recognition as the best of modern design.
